Franklin lies within the Nantahala National Forest and is situated between two popular scenic gorges, the Cullasaja and the Nantahala. Comprised of over half of a million acres of unspoiled beauty, the rolling mountains rise to peaks over 5,000 ft. high from the valley of the Little Tennessee River. Spectacular waterfalls, fantastic hiking trails, pristine fishing streams and abundant wildlife are among the area’s many natural treasures.

Meet-up location: The parking lot of Lowes located at the intersection of US 64 and US 441. This allows leaving any autos in the event of car pooling.

    2. Lodging, there are three recommended hotels in Franklin, however you are free to make reservations anywhere you would like to stay.
    3. And we’re still looking for an Outing Leader who could assist with the logistics.

    1. This is indeed a nice place and has excellent food. However, it is about a half hour drive to a meeting place in Franklin from which to embark. It may also be said that this area is subject to fog and an early morning drive might take longer.
